Harry Munns
Director of Waterfront and Sailing
Harry Munns began spending time on power and sailboats as a boy in his native Massachusetts. His love of the ocean brought him to southern California where he began sailing, teaching and doing captain work professionally. He was one of the founders of the American Sailing Association. In his 20 year career at ASA, Harry trained hundreds of instructors around the world, wrote or contributed to many boating publications including his popular book, Cruising Fundamentals. Harry was one of the original authors of the NASBLA National Education Standards that were developed at the behest of the U.S. Coast Guard and funded by USCG grants. He holds a USCG Master 100 Gross Ton License, as well as an American Sailing Association Offshore Passagemaking Instructor Evaluator rating.
He continues to sail, lecture and write whenever time allows. As he rebuilds a robust sailing program at Chequessett Club, Harry will be offering an afternoon sailing program for youth and teens. Dates and time for that program are being created and an announcement should be forthcoming. If you require assistance with any waterfront activities or the storage of watercraft, please contact Harry at dwscycc@gmail.com
