Dear Membership,
The first phase of the project, bridge construction and clearing the forest at Duck Harbor, is underway. The bridge construction is estimated to take two years and will cost $31 million. Specific to Chequessett, additional soil testing was done on the low holes 6, 7 and 8 and additional amounts of peat were found. This will necessitate more excavating, and more fill than initially expected. Therefore, there will have to be a reanalysis of the work to be done on the golf course. This will cause a delay in the golf course portion of the project, and we expect to have more clarity on the timetable in the fall. The bottom line is that the golf course will be open for business in 2024 while they work through these issues. When there is more information, updates will be posted on the Club’s website.
